Sunil Shetty made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with the film Balwaan. The film was a success, largely due to some dangerous stunts he performed in the movie, without a double, and started his career. His breakthrough role came with the film Mohra (1994). This was followed by mostly action movies which made him even more popular. He did many films with action star Akshay Kumar, which resulted in hits. He went on to do roles which showed patriotism such as Border (1997), LOC Kargil (2003) and Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003). His performance in Border (1997) was praised as he played a Rajashthan's army captain role Bhairo Singh. His role Was Appreciated in all over India . He received the Zee Cine Best Actor Award for this role. His performance in Dhadkan (2000) was praised as he played a villainous role. He received the Filmfare Best Villain Award for this role. He Also Won the Zee Cine Award Best Actor in a Supporting Role- Male for Dhadkan. He was also Nominated For Filmfare Best Villain Award for his Role In Main Hoon Na. He has done some comedy roles and he has been successful with Hera Pheri (2000), a hugely successful film co-starring with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal and Hulchul (2004). Shetty also has a production company called Popcorn Entertainment. The company has produced films such as Khel (2003) and Rakht: What If You Can See the Future (2004). The company had little success as all these films flopped at the box office. The recently released film Bhagam Bhag (2006) produced by his company has however been the first successful film for his company.
