There's a war brewing in the music world. And it's a war that can only do good.

Reacting to Aadesh Shrivastav's tirade about plagiarizing Gautam Chatterjee's track for Gangster, Pritam has decided to adapt for of the late rocker's music.

Says Pritam, "I'm glad Aadesh brought this issue up. The world has forgotten the genius of Gautam Chatterjee, and Aadesh's ignorant outburst has made me realize how little people know about his music. Gautamda is the father of Bengali Rock and the pioneer. He's very special to all of us Bengalis. I'm glad Aadesh has brought up his name even while trying to pull me down. My endeavour now is to get more of Gautamda's songs in the national market."

Aadesh Shrivastav's statement on television's Voice of India that it was wrong of Pritam Chakraborty to copy the late Gautam Chatterjee's rock track Prithvi, has the younger composer fuming.

Says Pritam, "I don't need Aadesh Shrivastava to tell me about work ethics. I knew what I was doing. I know my song Bheegi bheegi in Gangster is inspired from Gautamda's track Prithvi. I was born and brought up in Bengal. I know more about Bengali culture and respect Bengali artistes more than Aadesh ever can. Gautam Chatterjee is the father of Indi-Rock. I grew up listening to his songs."

In fact Pritam now intends to adapt other little-known tracks by Gautam Chatterjee. "I'm glad Aadesh raised this subject. I now feel we need to revive Gautamda's music in a big way. He has done so many songs that are classics of rock. I want to bring them back."

When fellow-Bengali Anurag Basu asked Pritam to adapt the song for Basu's film Gangster Pritam jumped at it. "I always loved that track. It was an honor and a pleasure to adapt it. We met Gautamda's wife, got the rights and then used it in the film. There was nothing underhand about it."
