Indira Gandhi: a woman of character

We have the habit of judging people without having the adequate information about them. I have taken this information about Indira Gandhi and given my views below.Indira was the daughter of Jawarhar Lal Nehru and the first woman prime minister of India and has served it for 15 years 1966 to 1977 and from 1980 to 1984. When Lal Bhadur Shastri was the PM of India, he appointed Indira Gandhi as minister of information and broadcasting. This position was the fourth highest ranking position in the Cabinet. As many Indians were illiterate, radio and television played a major part in informing them. As minister, she started a family planning program.

As prime minister, Gandhi tried to improve the lives of Indians. With her neighbors, the Soviet Union and China, she improved relations.  She also promoted science and technology.  In 1971, India sent its first satellite into space. She nationalized banks in 1969. She was the Prime Minister during the decisive victory in the 1971 war with Pakistan.Economically, Indira Gandhi led India to become one of the fastest growing economies in the world toward the end of her time as prime minister. She was the one due to which India was known as the world’s youngest nuclear power. Because of her intense dislike of Nixon (who in return disliked her as well) she started ‘Green revolution’ and ‘White Revolution’ as well.

She was declared guilty of electoral malpractices but in August 1975 the Lok Sabha passed legislation to clear Gandhi of her corruption convictions, as she had strong-armed her opponents, and had arrested many of them. Again she was the one to declare ‘emergency’ to stabilize the situation in the country. She was the one to perform the ‘Blue Operation’ in Punjab to flush out the Sikh Separatist group who were amasing weapeons in the walls of the temple. She justified the attact by saying that the group was preaching anti-government ideas such as separate Sikh independence and a different State called ‘Khalistan’. She paid the price of the action with her blood. Around 31 bullets were extracted from her body. There were some decisions that she had to take as a prime minister. Her entire family were into politics. All she wanted to do was serve the country and its people. When you are faced constantly by the opposition who want to create trouble out of every line that is uttered, how is the person suppose to bring about desired change?? She was a strong willed lady, a woman with a head on her shoulders and not afraid of anything. She took hard decisions were they were necessary. She was a visionary. It’s sad that few people were not able to see that and constantly sowed thorns in her way. If any other person were in her place, they would have admitted defeat. I believe that she was a true ruler and remember her with respect and dignity. She was killed on October 31st 1984. On her 25th death anniversary, we recall the bullets, the blisters and the footprints left by the first woman Prime Minister of India.Handwriting Analysis of Indira GandhiIndira Ghandhi’s handwriting tells us that liked to know more about 'reality', and to probe the unknown. she was a person who was able to create new ideas and expand them. She was a person who was always on the move observing and using her insight to act on her thoughts. She was clear on what she wanted and how she would go about getting it.She was a person who needed hard facts in order to take a decision and would see how it would benefit everyone concerned. She was analytical and unemotional, but could also be sincere and reliable. People with such a handwriting always recognize obligations and hence prove good friends.  She had a high degree of intuition and some how had an idea that she would be killed. This is shown in the quote below.“ If I die a violent death as some fear and a few are plotting, I know the violence will be in the thought and action of the assassin, not in my dying.I don't mind if my life goes in the service of the nation. If I die today every drop of my blood will invigorate the nation. -- said the night before she was assassinated, October 30, 1984She was a person who had her own views and ideas regarding any situation and would not come under anyone’s influence easily or be taken in by their talks. Her handwriting shows large degree of determination and it was also seen in the work that she did for India and being elected twice by the people as Prime Minister of India. The picture perfect i-dot shows that she was a loyal person and ahead of her times. She was a sort of a loner and would require some quite time for her every now and then.

Overall her handwriting says that she was a lady of strong character fondly remembered as the “Iron Lady Of India”

Eco Friendly Diwali

Eco Friendly Diwali

Diwali as we all know is a festival of lights, of triumph over evil. This Diwali I was in Rajkot celebrating the festival. My neice was told by her teachers not to light crackers as they spread pollution and that the crackers have poison in them. My neice believed in the teacher and did not touch the crackers in the beggining, however the members present there managed to get her interested in playing along with them.

We always blame the celebration and the craker lighting on the kids, saying that they dont listen. when they are in a process of learning we make them do somthing very different and it gets feeded into their minds and that is what we keep following. We did enjoy bursting crackers, seeing the brilliant colours spread across the sky but the smoke it left behind was difficult to handle . We were not able to breath and had to go away a fast as possible as people were bursting crackers all around. I later came to know from mu in-laws that this year the bursting of crackers has diminished to a great extent. here were signs on the road side saying " Dont smoke away your money"

To a certain level an impact has been created be it by the government or by schools or by parents on having an eco friendly Diwali as the essence of the festival is about lighting up ones life which can be done even without bursting crackers. In some places the money which people had reserved for buying crackers was sent to affected areas in order to light up someone else's life.

I think that  a complete eco friendly Diwali  is still far away, however there is lots of progress seen in that area and also seen that people do enjoy such an effort and feel happier in having done something which will eventually be fruitfull in the lives of others. I do support an Eco friendly Diwali.

Work is Worship but for whom

Work is worship but for whom

Definately all of what Ghandhi ji has said is true an very adaptable even to this day. Our dear minister wants us to work on Gandhi Jayanti saying that work is worship which surely is, but I feel that this sentence is more applicable to them than to us as we do work day and night and are following Ghandhi ji's footsteps everyday. But our dear minister come out and work when either the water has risen above the head or the elections are on their head. Do ask them to work and allow us to enjoy this one day where all family can come together and spend time with each other, after all Charity begans at home and our family to would like that.

Regards,
