Loosing a toss as it may sound may not actually be a loss. Going by the records the loosing team is the one which is loosing the toss, but the toss can not be blamed for their fate. The toss can affect the game under two conditons. First if it’s the pitch which plays tricks and secondly if any of the team has a perfect strategy playing first or second. The South African pitches are not considered to be the best pitches for nothing. These pitches are fair to both the teams as they can easily last the whole match without breaking. So the pitches easily do not play any role in deciding the match and are therefore toss independent. When we talk champion’s trophy, we talk about top 8 teams of the world competing against each other. The high tech gadgets, the mind boggling technologies, the skilled coaches and team managers. We talk about all this whenever we say "CHAMPIONS TROPHY”. Thus when we say it, we ought to remember that these are not the teams you play against with your local clubs that have strategies for only batting first or second. These are world class international level teams that have their plan E to be as strong as the plan A, B, C, D. Playing first or second there fore does not effect here. Toss can surely be the boss only when it starts to rain and if team going for the kill suddenly looses due to the Duckworth Lewis system. But that too happens very less. We should ALWAYS remember, these teams are amongst the very best and we should not take away what they deserve by calling it a win due to a toss. A WIN IS ALWAYS A WIN NO MATTER WHAT. Winning does not mean that a team is better than the other. It only states that the team played better on the given day.
